Affiliate Marketing is a simple to understand system for making money, and in my opinion, one of the best systems online to make money due to the low overhead, and immediate benefits of not having to create, build, store, ship and perform the multitudinous tasks associated with directly selling a product. Instead, you are helping someone else who has gone through all that pain and expense sell their product.

But simple does not mean easy. Too many people think that it does, and the fact is affiliate marketing is NOT easy. Simple, means it is simple in principle to understand and to employ, but it takes hard work to make into a real money making enterprise.

Here are just a few reasons why affiliate marketing is hard:

• Competition – because it is simple to understand, there are a lot of players – most of them are not doing great, some of them are, and a few of them are what we call “Super Affiliates”. This can clog up the works.
• Product selection – frankly a lot of the products out there stink. They are poorly conceived, and poorly executed, and poorly marketed. The affiliate marketer will not make money if the product he or she is trying to sell is bad, or at least looks bad – you have to know your product and that takes work.
• SEO: If a potential customer cannot find your link, but finds someone else’s, then you don’t get the commission. Simple as that.
• Methodology: Yes the concept of Affiliate Marketing is simple: Drive traffic to a site with a link to a product and get them to click and buy….but the devil is in the details. How do you drive traffic, and not just any traffic, but traffic that wants what you have? What types of content is driving traffic to your competitors now? What keywords and key-phrases are being used for SEO? Do you know?

What you need is good products, good content, and some good data that you can put to work now to help you drive traffic to sites that will convert to real sales and real commissions.

Your customers will love you, your merchants will love you, and you will love your bank account.

Creating Your Campaign:

To create your campaign, select the “Campaigns” menu selection at the top of the site. There you will be presented with a expandable list of all current categories as well as the current list of all Free (to members) books are marketing. In the future there will many more different ways to select products such as “Gravity Maps”, filterable lists, etc. But for now just choose a category and scroll through the selection of products, choosing one when you see something that strikes your interest. These products and categories are updated on a daily basis.

I will discuss the product pages and items in detail in the next part of this series, but I am sure that you can see how some of this data could directly benefit your Affiliate Marketing efforts immediately.
